CODEBOOK

The files neighborhoods.dbf and neighborhoods.xls contain U.S. census 2000 (summary file 3) data by neighborhood. The following codebook provides a brief explanation of each variable.

Important notes

  • Neighborhood data is based on Census block group information. Some neighborhoods contain only one Census block group. Some Census blocks in Trenton had a very low return rate. Thus the accuracy of some data, especially for the smallest neighborhoods may be very low.
  • Density measures are reported as "number per square mile." However none of the 25 neighborhoods exceeds 1 square mile. Thus while Mill Hill is reported as having 9009 people per square mile (in POP_SQM) the Census data reports only 792 people in Mill Hill (in POP). "number per square mile" is provided to compare densities across neighborhoods and should not be interpreted as an actual count.
